Warner Bros. and ABC Family charged Hodder with crafting a love letter to these loyal viewers. They also wanted a special to fill a role previously held by mid-hiatus original PLL Halloween specials. So was born a love letter to fans with decidedly spooky overtones. The foundation of the special was the PLL’s reading and answering fan submitted questions. Hodder then layered in interviews with current and previous cast and the show creators and producers, key scenes from the series, and expertly curated and high quality fan-generated content. The end result? A primetime special that not only celebrated but included fans in a meaningful way. The special was a hit, seen by 1.3 million viewers on the night it aired.
